Introducing "The Beautiful Books Trove": an archival initiative and specialized library dedicated to collecting and studying Arabic books and publications renowned for their captivating visual and cultural content. The Trove delves into the intricacies of Arabic book production, including creative content, typography, and illustrations. It also delves into the accomplished individuals who have contributed to this creative realm, spanning from the late 19th century to the present day.
Our belief centers on the importance of uncovering the past, gleaning lessons from its achievements and setbacks to pave a clear path toward the future. Our doors are open to people of all ages, particularly students and researchers, offering access to our archives and shelves for those eager to embark on this unique journey and explore its treasures.
Our primary objective is to document the books and publications housed within the Trove and make them accessible through a digital database platform. Additionally, we curate exhibitions, lectures, and workshops aimed at students, designers, and artists.
The name "The Trove" (Khazanet in Arabic) pays tribute to the renowned bookmaker and artist Mohieddine el-Labbad, inspired by his weekly articles for Arab children in the late 1980s.
خزانة الكتب الجميلة: مشروع توثيقي ومكتبة متخصصة لتجميع ودراسة الكتب والمطبوعات العربية ذات المحتوى البصري والثقافي الملهِم. تهتم الخزانة بملامح صناعة الكتاب العربي وكافة الحِرف التي تدور في عالمه: كالمحتوى الإبداعي والتصرفات الحروفية والرسومات. وكذلك تركز على معرفة الشخوص خلف هذا النتاج الابداعي منذ نهايات القرن التاسع عشر وصولاً الى زمننا الحالي.
تؤمن الخزانة بضرورة اكتشاف الماضي والتعلم من نجاحاته وإخفاقاته كي تتكون أرضية واضحة المعالم ننتقل عبرها للمستقبل،
تخاطب الخزانة كافة الأعمار وخاصة الطلاب والباحثين وتفتح أرشيفها ورفوفها لمن يرغب بخوض هذه التجربة الفريدة وسبر خباياها.
يهدف المشروع إلى توثيق ما تحويه الخزانة من كتب ومطبوعات واتاحاتها بشكل قاعدة بييانات رقمية تسهل البحث بها، وكذلك إقامة معارض متنقلة ومحاضرات وورش عمل موجهة للطلاب والمصممين والفنانين.
